The site that is currently identified for sale falls into three ownerships
The College Campus…Homes and Community Association (HCA)
The Amenity Land…Bristol City Council (BCC)
Social housing flats (unoccupied)… Knightstone Housing Association (KHA)
The landowners are proposing to offer the combined 25 acre site for sale by private tender. Their intention is to select a “preferred development partner” for a housing scheme of up to 450-500 new houses with a standard 30% affordable housing provision.
We support the view of many in the local community that there could be a different and more ambitious plan for the regeneration of this site. One that builds on the creativity that is now part of the Campus: that respects and protects Green space, wildlife habitats and reusable buildings; that provides new homes that are both affordable and energy efficient; that includes a range of workspace and employment opportunities; that offers support for self builders; that involves both community and partners in its creation; that creates a sense of place, community involvement and shared responsibility and purpose.
A new model
Site information
1 Homes and Communities Agency (HCA)…..The College Campus….
When the College moved to their new facility at Hengrove last year they left behind an infrastructure that has potential for transformation. The campus that includes the original college buildings, a sports hall and workshops were acquired by HCA and have been reoccupied on a temporary basis by Artspace who support many community and arts related activities on this site: Art and design workshops, training facilities, performance space, healing space, sports and recreation activities, bike workshops, skateboard park, a permaculture project and much more. 2 Bristol City Council (BCC)……The Open Amenity Land…..

3 Knightstone Housing Association (KHA)…. Social housing
Bristol City have recently demolished and cleared the Kingswear social housing flats from the central area of the site. A further 60 social housing flats, leading off Torpoint and owned by KHA are currently disused and boarded up.
