Yet Another Housing Estate For Profit ... or a Low Impact Sustainable Community?

Big society

Want to be part of building a new sustainable community?

We are presenting a new vision for the regeneration of the old City of Bristol College and the adjoining open land of the Northern Slopes in Bedminster, which are due to be sold off for development.

Rather than becoming just another housing estate we believe this has the potential to support a new sustainable community with a range of affordable and self build housing and work, training, arts and recreational facilities. The largest of it’s type in the UK.

We aim to breathe new life into the Campus that lies at the heart of the BS3 community and build new space:- Affordable Living space, Workspace, Open space, Growing space, Community space, Eating space, Recreation and Artspace, Performance space, Quiet space….. Our space.

Developments such as Harbourside that create sterile environments to generate profits for a national  housebuilder are lost opportunities. In contrast those that are inspired and supported by local people can add a sense of place and real value.

We feel its time to challenge the old ways and models. To create a new vision. that relates to how we want to live; that provides affordable housing, that respects environment, and is based on shared ownership, responsibility and support. We are asking the Bristol and wider community to share in the vision and have their voice heard before it is too late.
